There Lived A Cat

On the moon, there lived a cat.

Lives count nine, amidst the wild dust,

Nine lives to tender beyond the cratored rust.

She prowls, whiskers tuned to the cosmic tide,

Alone with the stars bestowed her cunning side.

A creature of shadow,

She leaps, a canine trick as a floating ballet.

Her appetite is alive, scavenging every day.

Nine beats of the heart where the mysteries dance,

A feline deity, a moon mariner's romance.

Beneath her gaze, solarfish dare not tread.

For she keeps a diary of littered dead,

And weaves her silence in the starless of night,

Milking this cold empty light.
